Sometime between the birth of Christ and 500 A.D., sailors in their ocean voyaging canoes from the Marquesas Islands in the South Pacific guided only by the stars, winds, clouds and waves, found their way to the most isolated island chain in the world …..HAWAII. Hundreds of years later other groups of Polynesians from Tahiti, Tonga, and Samoa also found their way to these same islands. Today these islands are a melting pot of these earlier settlers from Polynesia, along with individuals from Japan, China, Portugal, the Philippines, Europe and North America, all living together beneath the comforting veneer of an American infrastructure.
Hawaii is a very unique place of stunning landscapes, for nowhere else in the world are so many wonders crammed into such a small space: snow capped mountains; jagged, jade green peaks atop hidden valleys; subtropical rainforests; sun sparkled beaches; crystal clear ocean; and eerie, dormant volcanic craters, and active volcanoes. The island of Maui itself where the training will be held boasts a total of 13 mini climates from desert to sub-tropical. No place on the planet offers more outdoors fun in more comfortable conditions more days of the year than Hawaii. Even a partial listing of activities seems overwhelming…. waterfall and ocean swimming, whale watching, hiking, golf, tennis, scuba diving, snorkeling, bicycling, body–boarding, surfing, kite-boarding, Para-sailing, wind surfing, kayaking, fishing, and all at world famous sites. Temperatures range in the winter months from a high of 82 F (28 C) degrees, to a low of 64 F (16 C), and in the summer months from a high of 89 F (34 C), to a low of 69 F (20 C).
The Hawaii Feldenkrais
Training
A Unique Place to Learn
Traditionally, the Hawaii Trainings have been composed of a small (20-25 students) international group of participants. In keeping with the aloha spirit, students and faculty have enjoyed parties and outings together such as whale watching, volcano hikes, tennis, beach activities, etc.
The scheduled program hours allow students to participate in the training program and also to relax at the beach, swim, scuba dive, play golf and tennis, whale-watch, windsurf, hike, horseback ride, and enjoy the countless outdoor activities that are available in Hawaii. Maui is rich in its variety of fresh foods, 13 mini climate zones from desert to sub-tropical, and mixture of many cultures: American, Oriental, Polynesian, and European.
Hawaiians say of it “Maui No Ka Oi” “Maui is the Most Beautiful”. The Hawaii Feldenkrais Training Program offers some of the finest trainers in intimate beautiful surroundings. We look forward to having you join us for this unique blend of people and experiences.
